Elwin, I’m not sure if you are trolling or if you are being sarcastic, but fascism is nothing like socialism. It is extreme nationalism. And the US is a pretty nationalist state on the whole. (Nationalism being extreme pride for one’s state, far removed from any concept of reality, generally with a specific preference for one or some ethnic groups over others.) Wikipedia definition of Fascism:
Fascism (pronounced /ˈfæʃɪzəm/) is a radical and authoritarian nationalist political ideology.[1][2][3][4] Fascists seek to organize a nation according to corporatist perspectives, values, and systems, including the political system and the economy.[5][6] Fascism was originally founded by Italian national syndicalists in World War I who combined left-wing and right-wing political views, but it gravitated to the political right in the early 1920s.[7][8] Scholars generally consider fascism to be on the far right of the conventional left-right political spectrum.[9][10][11][12][13][14] Note the part that says it’s considered far right, not left. Wikipedia Definition of Nationalism:
Nationalism involves a strong identification of a group of individuals with a political entity defined in national terms, i.e. a nation. Often, it is the belief that an ethnic group has a right to statehood,[1] or that citizenship in a state should be limited to one ethnic group, or that multinationality in a single state should necessarily comprise the right to express and exercise national identity even by minorities.[2] The Nazi reference is valid. Arizona is asserting it’s white dominance with laws that enable police to detain people solely based on the colour of their skin. This is not hard to understand. Consider not using the Tea Party as a primary source.

Amanda, seriously…get a clue.  Fascism is a type of socialism where the government has complete power, forcibly suppressing opposition and criticism, regimenting all industry, commerce, etc., and emphasizing an aggressive nationalism and often racism.  The only political regime in the U.S. that has a remote resemblance to fascism is the regrettable policies and behavior of President Obama and the Statists in Congress currently running our economy into the ground: Nationalizing banks, automakers, health-care; ignoring legislation and Constitutional checks/balances by enforcing amnesty; suing states and local law enforcement and other opposition/critics for enforcing laws Obama chooses to ignore in order to buy votes; sending out his wife, sharon sherrod, and other friends to call anyone who disagrees with his pinheaded policies “racists” implying the only reason someone could possibly oppose statism is because of the color of Obama’s skin. You are either ignorant or a demagogue. Either way, you have a lot to learn about protecting liberty and the values that make the U.S. an exceptional Republic.

Get a little more creative, people! I haven’t heard a good 1984 reference in FOREVER.

Nazi? In this case - yep. It doesn’t break Godwin’s law to say it’s a Nazi - like law. It is legal in Arizona to detain suspects guilty of no crime based on appearance and demand proof of citizenship. It’s not really even hyperbole to compare it to 1930’s Germany.
