Amanda Dobbins 2 years agoI actually think the two about owning a spot because you shoveled it out are complete bs. its a public roadway. you can’t save a spot. if you think that this is ok YOU are actually the asshole. I guess I can never live in Chi-town if that is the norm there because it would drive me insane.

amsci 2 years agoSimilar situation in Albany as well. Back to back 3ft snowstorms and plus plow days and limited parking change the rules a bit.

karinmchughy 2 years agoMaybe if you had to shovel out your spot you would understand. Otherwise I will happily wait for you to shovel it out and then park in it. Wonder how you would feel then?

peterc10 2 years agoI agree, you shovel it, it’s your space until the snow from that storm has melted or been removed.

Nub 2 years agoYou are absolutely right. If a person shoveled out a spot, you are completely right to snake in there and force them to shovel the whole street because you are lazy and too important to shovel your own spot. I’d just shovel out the spot in front of, or behind, your hijacking ass and bury your car.

Nate Holland 2 years agoSame thing in Boston. It is a fair system and rewards hard work and self reliance.

Donnie E 2 years agoWhy pay an arbitrary amount for a spot when there is a tradition in place that gives it to you for free?

anouk22 2 years agoBaltimore has the same tradition. trash cans or folding lawn chairs commonly used place holders. somebody spends a lot of time shoveling out feet of snow, probably a drift or two, they own it for the duration of the snowstorm.
