Fred Tuttle (a general election Republican 'challenger' in 1998) actually endorsed Leahy during a debate. Tuttle beat a serious candidate during the Republican primary—possibly due to tripping the guy up on hilarious questions during an earlier debate. One was “How many teats does a Holstein cow got?”
