The article’s emphasis is misplaced. The issue is not about Augusta, the issue is why does the PGA provide point standings based on performance at a segregated private club’s tournament? Let Augusta do whatever it wants as a private club. The PGA is the throwback here, still utilizing the good ole boys club to support itself. It needs to break away. If it’s not a sanctioned event, then how can the PGA allow points from the Masters? Because the golf-fairy says so? I guess if there’s enough tradition, whites-only clubs could put together a tournament, and, as long as everyone/anyone pro could play, then the PGA would give them points too? Of course not. The PGA sucks Masters dick and this shows it.
