AFOweaverAFO 8 months agoAgain, Obamas camp wants to make the issue anything BUT the economy. While Mr. Romneys views on gay marriage may be fuckin backwards and outdated, that’s not the issue here. Gays getting married won’t give millions of people jobs.

rexyw 8 months agoGays getting married won’t give millions of people jobs? What about the increased number of wedding planners, wedding designers, dress makers, suit makers, caterers, cake makers, boutique store owners, etc., etc…? Putting a FABULOUS wedding together doesn’t come cheap, and you KNOW the gays, with their extra disposable income, would gladly pour their money into the economy to make their gay wedding unforgettable!

Swagasaurus Rex 8 months agoThat’s like saying “let’s not talk about slavery, this election is about states rights!” There are a multitude of problems facing our nation. The economy is one, but multiple social policies from education reform to marriage equality not only heals social issues, but helps to improve the economy. In gay marriage, for example, extending marriage benefits to homosexuals would give them the same fiscal benefits as straight people and the sheer volume of homosexuals getting married would spur economic increase in wedding venues, bakeries, caters, musicians and other groups profits. But even if there wasn’t a slight economic benefit to marriage equality, it doesn’t change the fact that inequality is always an important issue in America. If someone has backwards views, then it’s the American people’s job to make it an issue, and correct it. If we don’t right inequality, we are not living up to our value system.

abrahamc3 8 months agoWhy can’t it be about both and more? The Economy was talked about and not avoided, my question would be: Why do republicans always shy away from their ass backwards bigoted views when campaigning but spend a large portion of their political terms and effort towards oppressing those they feel are “sinners”? Money is bottom on my list of things that make me happy, it would be great if the economy was better but it would be greater if all the people in this fine country were treated fairly and equally.
