I can see where all his fans' (and haterz) got a tad confused, but he didn't misunderstand the word “German”, he thought the host was addressing his full name and that the question being asked was “Is German for basketball?” which is nothing to bash him for seeing as how if anyone were asked that question, they wouldn't have a f***ing clue how to respond. I agree with Ross J. I think he thought “german” was like “crazy for” or like “I'm german for that hot guy.” The announcer should have said “Your last name Bieber is German for basketball”. Also, is it? It can't be. Basketball was invented much later than last-name-making-era
