Donald Trump purchased NBC's half of the Miss Universe Organization and resolved all legal disputes against the media company. Univision would not broadcast the pageant and NBC ended its business relationship with him over his comments about Mexican immigrants, triggering lawsuits from Trump.

On Friday, presidential hopeful Donald Trump purchased NBC's half of the Miss Universe Organization and settled all legal disputes against them after the media company severed ties with him because of his "derogatory statements" about Mexican immigrants.

An NBC Universal official confirmed that Trump had purchased their half and that their legal issues had been resolved. The move gives him full ownership of the Miss Universe and Miss USA pageants.

NBC had ended its business relationship with Trump back in June because of "derogatory statements" about Mexican immigrants. When Trump announced his bid for the White House he said Mexican immigrants were "rapists" who are "bringing drugs" and "crime" to the U.S.

Like Univision, NBC refused to air the two beauty pageants associated with Trump following the public backlash over his comments. Trump had also been a host of NBC's The Celebrity Apprentice. Trump filed a lawsuit against Univision and threatened to sue NBC as a result.

Calls to Trump's lawyers and spokeswoman were not immediately returned.
