We need cop cops. Have 'em patrol around and arrest any cops who are abusing their authority.

Shoved is a little strong of a word. More like politely asked to move. Shoved I expect through a pane of glass. That's the only way to shove.

I don't think it was the magnitude of the 'shove' so much as the rudeness/brusqueness of it—having not seen the whole scene, it didn't look like that was necessary to do to someone who was not drunk or otherwise disorderly. I'd be offended too, I just probably wouldn't freak out about it that much.

Jesus Christ, I hope 2012 is the year most cops go to jail or worse. This is nothing to scream about here, but the preponderance of copsuckers on this page is frightening and disgusting to me. Cops are out of control in this country.

It was courageous of her to protest what she felt was an unjust arrest, but I wouldn't call that a shove.

They were obviously arresting people who were drunk. As for the “shove”, the cop was merely steering her away, both for her safety and theirs.

agreed, but if she herself 'hardly shoved' the police officer she might be nursing a lot more than a bruised ego right now. Fair is fair, the police are here to protect and serve their FELLOW citizens, not to control them from a pedestal. Police exist because society exists, they are an extension of our collective desire for order, nothing more. It's a great duty to carry, and if you have a brain and work for a well run department you can serve people very well. Consider this metaphor; if the law were god.
A police officer's relationship with the law should be that of a fellow churchgoer sitting next to you in the pew, not that of a priest with some sort of 'higher' connection.

It's like watching a strict law gang with them and protestors. I know NYPD is just doing what they are being instructed but they seem to be just over doing it.
